Radio Mobile - RF propagation simulation software

When analysing RF behaviour in Radio Mobile, a legend is displayed on the map where the cresult is displayed. The Signal legend is displayed below:

The position of this legend can not be configured.

In the menu 'S-unit options' you can configure the "S-meter reading". The S-units are referenced to S9 at a absolute level in uV (micro-Volts). from this reference each individual S-point can be configured in steps where the value in dB per step is set.
At signal levels stringer than S-9 no longer S-points are counted but steps per 10 dB are applied.

Radio Mobile comes with 3 possible configurations:

  • Radio Mobile default values (Not recommended)
  • IARU Region 1 standard
  • Custom

Radio Mobile default values.

For frequency's below 30 MHz:

  • S9 level is 'unknown' uV ('unknown' dBm at 50 ohm, 0dBd)
  • 6 dB per S-point

For frequency's higher than 30 MHz:

  • S9 level is 'unknown' uV ('unknown' dBm at 50 ohm, 0dBd)
  • 3 dB per S-point.

It is not recommended to use this setting, as is unknown to what S9 is referred to.

IARU Region 1 standard.

For frequency's below 30 MHz:

  • S9 level is 50,06 uV (-73 dBm at 50 ohm, 0dBd)
  • 6 dB per S-point

For frequency's higher than 30 MHz:

  • S9 level is 5,01 uV (-93 dBm at 50 ohm, 0dBd)
  • 3 dB per S-point.

Custom settings.

Here both reference and steps can be configured. The following settings are advised: (these are not displayed in the image below)

For frequency's below 30 MHz:

  • S9 level is 50,06 uV (-73 dBm at 50 ohm, 0dBd)
  • 6 dB per S-point

For frequency's higher than 30 MHz:

  • S9 level is 7,0795 uV (-90 dBm at 50 ohm, 0dBd)
  • 3 dB per S-point.
